AKRON, Ohio – University of Akron women’s basketball senior Liisa Taponen (Tampere, Finland) will represent Finland when she competes at the World University Games in Germany, July 18-25.
Finland opens Group A play versus Argentina on Friday (July 18) at 8:30 a.m. ET in Essen, Germany. Finland battles Czechia on Saturday (July 19) at 6 a.m. ET before concluding group play versus India at 8:30 a.m. ET on Sunday (July 20).
The quarterfinals and semifinals will be contested on Tuesday (July 22) and Wednesday (July 23) before the gold medal game on Friday (July 25).
The FISU Games are open to students who will be aged between 18 and 25 on December 31 of the year of the event (that is, born between 1 January 2000 and 31 December 2007), and who have been nominated by their national university sports federations.
