CANYON, Texas –

West Texas A&M Lady Buff Basketball will be featured on the international stage this summer as incoming transfer and Canyon product Kenadee Winfrey has joined Team USA for the 2025 FISU World University Summer Games.

Winfrey is joined on the roster by Texas Tech student-athletes: Adlee Blacklock, Jalynn Bristow, Snudda Collins, Denae Fritz, Sidney Love, Jada Malone, Bird Martin and Bailey Maupin. Gaston (Auburn/Texas) and Laci White (Texas Tech WBB student manager) round out the 2025 roster.

Taking place on July 16-27 in Germany (Bochum, Duisburg, Essen, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Hagen, and Berlin), around 8,500 student-athletes and officials from over 150 countries will compete for medals in 18 sports – making this one of the largest multi-sport events in the world in 2025. And there can be few better-placed hosts: in these exceptionally sport-loving locations, the densest university landscape in Europe meets the most sports clubs in Germany.

Krista Gerlich will serve as head coach for Team USA. Gerlich led West Texas A&M to stellar 168-53 overall record, four consecutive South Division Lone Star Conference titles and three consecutive Lone Star Conference championships in seven seasons leading the Lady Buffs from 2006-13.

The World University Games began in 1923 in Paris, France, and were held in Europe every two years until 1939. After its foundation in 1949, FISU organised an international biennial university sports event, which became ‘Universiade’ in 1959. Since 1959, the multi-sport event has been held every two years (in odd-numbered years), with both summer and winter editions. In 2020, the Games were renamed the ‘FISU World University Games’, and they have grown to become the most important competition in international university sport.
