Fighting game legend Brad ‘Slips’ Vitale passed away peacefully in his sleep at age 45 last night.
Vitale worked on major franchises in the Fighting Game Community for NetherRealm Studios, like Injustice 2 and Mortal Kombat X, where he was a game balance tester. He was also credited as a quality assurance analyst for the first Injustice game.
Not only did Vitale work on major fighting games in our community, he was an extremely well respected player and friend to numerous people throughout the scene. He also made many appearances on FGC podcasts.
Vitale would regularly place at major tournaments for Injustice, Mortal Kombat, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2, at events like Evo, Seasons Beatings and the Ultimate Fighting Game Tournament.
Numerous people who knew Vitale in the Fighting Game Community have been offering their condolences on X, speaking about how Brad had a positive impact on their lives and experiences in the community.
Vitale was a well respected and beloved member of our scene, and it’s truly heartbreaking to see that he’s passed away.
I’m extremely sad to inform those who haven’t heard but legendary MK/Tekken player Brad Vitale, also known as SLIPS has passed away. Pretty upset to hear the news. I can only try and think of the many fun/hilarious moments w him on KTP podcast and in person. RIP Slips
