BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The 2025 World Police and Fire Games are expected to have a big impact on the Birmingham economy. With more than 8,000 athletes and friends and family registered from 72 different countries, the economic impact of the event could reach $65 million.
“We have fulfilled our obligation with our host hotels. All of those rooms are booked,” said Paige Bagby, Marketing Manger for the 2025 World Police and Fire Games.
Many of the first responders in Birmingham this week have been to these games before in different cities across the globe. Sergeo Ferrare, a cyclist and police officer from Belgium, is excited for another chance to compete in the games.
“The organization is great. It’s a good moment for us to compete with other athletes from around the world,” Ferrare said.
The opening ceremony for the 2025 World Police and Fire Games is Friday night, June 27, inside Legacy Arena. All events and competitions taking place from Friday to July 6th are free and open to the public.
