Street Fighter 6 recently celebrated its second anniversary alongside the release of Elena and the Season 3 update, and the game looks like it’s keeping the momentum going.
Capcom has now released a Year 2 recap video for Street Fighter 6, which reveals some pretty interesting stats for its second go around the sun.
After going over the new content added to the game over the past year, Capcom revealed people were actually playing the game more than at launch.
While the first year had 174 million hours played of SF6, year two saw that number grow to 178 million hours for a total of 352 million hours of Street Fighter.
That applies when just looking at the Ranked play too since it was 45 million hours in year one and 50 million in year two.
Sure there were around 2 million more copies of the game sold in its second year, but it’s still a bit surprising to see people sticking around for longer than the original release window.
We can see that lots of people are still playing SF6 consistently through Steam Charts showing there’s an average of 17,000 players on at any time this month with a peak of over 50,000 on PC alone when the Season 3 update dropped.
With the recent announcement that Street Fighter 6 hit 5 million copies sold, each player has on average around 35 hours in the game during its second year, though that will obviously be skewed by those who put in hundreds or thousands of hours online themselves.
They also reveal the top most popular characters for its second year, which isn’t too surprising to see Akuma, Ken and Ryu make up the first three spots.
That was followed up by Juri, Cammy, and interestingly, Zangief.
Capcom of course also revealed the Season 3 DLC lineup for SF6 earlier this month with Sagat, C. Viper, Alex and Ingrid on the way.
We could be seeing more of Sagat as soon as later this week with the Capcom Spotlight event taking place this Thursday, June 26.
