We are just about set for Game 1 of the College World Series finals.
LSU advanced to the finals by rallying to beat Arkansas 6-5 on Wednesday night. The Tigers, who are 8-1 in the postseason, will send out right-hander Kade Anderson. The sophomore is 11-1 with a 3.44 ERA and 1.07 WHIP.
Coastal Carolina, which has won 26 straight games, turns to sophomore righty Cameron Flukey. The New Jersey native is 7-1 with a 3.34 ERA and 1.05 WHIP.
Anderson is the more heralded of the two pitchers, but Flukey was actually the higher-ranked recruit (barely) coming out of high school. Flukey was ranked No. 128 nationally in the Class of 2023, according to Perfect Game, while Anderson was No. 130.
Anderson, a draft-eligible sophomore, is projected to go No. 3 overall in the 2025 MLB Draft in Keith Law’s latest mock for The Athletic. Flukey is trending toward being a first-rounder in the ’26 draft.
