If you missed Ingrid’s appearance in Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max, you’re not alone, as a number of players in the fighting game community never really spent time with this PlayStation Portable version of Alpha 3, where she was playable.

In Ingrid’s Alpha 3 Max arcade mode, she notes that she’s trying to get something back before something terrible happens, and this turns out to be one of the emblems Ingrid wears in her hair that Bison has attached to his Psycho Drive in that game.

On the way to finding M. Bison, Ingrid encounters Evil Ryu and she asks him where he got that power (Satsui no Hado), and saying that it is beyond his control.

After Ingrid defeats Evil Ryu, he turns back into normal Ryu, and Ingrid says that someone was controlling him like a puppet.

Not Evil Ryu Anymore says that it was Bison controlling him, and Ingrid says she’s been told to look out for M. Bison, saying that he’s using a piece (Ingrid’s emblem) for his own purposes.

Before leaving, she calls Ryu by name, and he wonders how she knows his name and so much about what’s happening in the world.

Later on, Ingrid encounters Rose, and the fortune teller remarks that she can’t see Ingrid’s future or past, which is very unusual for her, as she’s even able to look at G and M. Bison’s future and past events.

Ingrid tells Rose that the power Bison holds has always been hers and she needs to get it back. Ingrid notes that Rose shouldn’t worry, and that “we’ll keep that power in our custody,” and that she’s a messenger from the stars.

Ingrid’s emblem has symbols which contain the sun, a bull’s horn, a leaf and the eye of the goddess Isis within them.

Ingrid’s plan is to seal M. Bison’s power away forever, and she wants him to return what he’s taken away from her. Bison says that Ingrid’s fate is linked to his Psycho Drive.

Ingrid responds that Psycho Power is a ridiculous name for what he stole, and he can’t possibly master it, as no ordinary human can control it.

Ingrid gets upset with Bison over his claims that Psycho Power is his, and she destroys him and his Psycho Drive in her Alpha 3 Max ending, taking back her emblem in the process.

Street Fighter 6’s director, Takayuki Nakayama, had this to say about the character earlier this year.

“Ingrid and Rose don’t use Psycho Power. Rose uses Soul Power (A similar power Mu no Hado/Power of Nothingness). Ingrid uses another energy,” he said.

“The Street Fighter Alpha 3 story is a bit irregular. [Ingrid] appears in three different games (one of which is unfinished), each with a different background. So what does that mean? 🤔” wrote Nakayama.

Also, in the official description for Ingrid as a DLC character in Street Fighter 6, the team stated “Don’t be fooled by the look of Ingrid! An extremely powerful and mysterious being, Ingrid can match up to any opponent and will shine her sunlight upon the remaining Street Fighter 6 characters next spring!

Ingrid is even smaller than Lily in her Alpha 3 Max appearance, standing at 5ft tall, and weighing only 85lbs.

It’s possible that she’s grown or changed bodies since that time, but if she matches the stature of her prior appearance in Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max, she’s likely going to have very small hurtboxes that could make her tricky to land attacks on.

Ingrid’s appearance in her official Street Fighter 6 artwork has definitely changed, so it’ll be interesting to see if her height and weight are still the same after all of these years.
