An unlikely actor is being brought into the Street Fighter universe. Daniel Pitout, better known as Orville Peck, is a country star who appeared in Broadway’s Cabaret but has never starred in a movie on the big screen. However, Peck is set to appear in the live-action adaptation of Capcom’s Street Fighter fighting game franchise, according to Deadline.
Not much is known about Peck’s role in Street Fighter, but some early reports are claiming he will be Vega, a claw-wielding, mask-wearing Spanish fighter that’s a bit full of himself. It’s a more theatrical role that could be fitting for Peck, who is no stranger to the stage. In fact, Peck recently surprised fans by taking off his mask to reveal he’s the Emcee in Broadway’s Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club. Both Peck and Vega are also known for always wearing a mask.

What We Know About the Street Fighter Film So Far
It’s Not Much, But It’s Promising
Street Fighter was originally set to come out on March 20, 2026 but the release date has been moved indefinitely as of March 2025. With the film largely under wraps with no release from Legendary in sight, not much is known about Street Fighter, but some actors have been rumored. On top of Peck as Vega, Walton Goggins has allegedly been in talks to play the villain, M. Bison.
The story is also a mystery as of now. It will likely follow the lore of Street Fighter, which first came out in 1987. While the game appears to be about 1v1 fights at a certain level, there’s a rich and continuing backstory as the games continue. If M. Bison is to be played by Goggins, that means the film will likely have a plot revolving around other fighters trying to take down Shadaloo, M. Bison’s evil organization.
There have been live action film adaptations of Street Fighter in the past. This includes the first film, released in 1994, and then the 2009 film Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. Both of these films were not met with a lot of applause from the fighting game community or general public. This hasn’t stopped Legendary from wanting to try again, but it seems there could be a lot of pressure to do the film just right.
