Out of the total package that is Street Fighter 6, the game’s base music has been a weak point for many players, but a familiar face from the Street Fighter’s past is coming back to add her signature flair and style to the experience.

Legendary composer Yoko Shimomura is bringing a new track to Street Fighter 6 that fans can listen to in part now.

The special BGM is titled “Edge of Triumph” that’ll be added to the game this week.

Shimomura’s song should sound new and familiar to longtime Street Fighter fans with its bombastic drums and synthesizer to heighten the in-game action.

The award-winning artist of course used to work for Capcom where she composed Final Fight and more importantly Street Fighter 2 before moving on to Square Enix where she’s famously worked on Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy among other titles.

This isn’t the first time Capcom has brought in big guests to add music to Street Fighter 6 with Devil May Cry composer Casey Edwards and DK Rap and Banjo-Kazooie composer Grant Kirkhope previously featured too.

Shimomura’s new track will be selectable as character BGM in the game once Elena and the Season 3 update drop, which was said to be coming June 5, but the patch is actually coming June 4 for those of us in the West.

You can take a sneak peek listen to Edge of Triumph below.
