REDDING, Calif. — A unique event is set to electrify Redding this Saturday as the Redding Fighting Game Club (Redding FGC) hosts the largest fighting video game tournament in the area’s history. The event, dubbed “NorCal Knockout,” will take place at the Win River Casino’s Eagle Room, offering a total prize pool of just over $2,400 for the winners.
Matt Elmore and Max Eitzen are among five local fighting game enthusiasts who have united with the ambition of transforming Redding into a premier destination for video game competitions.
“You know the Bay Area, Sacramento there’s really strong scenes and they have a lot of roots that we’re trying to plant here in Redding as well. We’re trying to make it another hub,” said one of the organizers.
The tournament is open to all ages, with more than 70 participants already registered. Interested gamers can still sign up for a $10 fee, which contributes to the prize pool. The event is free for spectators, both in person and via streaming platforms.
