Evo Japan is back for 2025 and will be taking place in Tokyo, Japan.
There are far too many notable names to even list for an event such as this. With a total entrant number of 9,340 across all main games, it’s safe to say that almost every single top player in any given name will be there.
By far the biggest game at the event is Street Fighter 6 sitting at 6,536 entrants making it the second largest Street Fighter tournament ever, behind Street Fighter 6 at Evo 2023. The event also carries a direct qualification to Capcom Cup 12 as well as two Esports World Cup qualification spots.
Tekken 8 is next in line with 960 entrants and is a Master+ tier event on the Tekken World Tour and also has four spots up for grabs for the Esports World Cup. Guilty Gear Strive and Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising land at 676 and 474 entrants, respectively, and are both Platinum+ events on the Arc World Tour circuit.
The final main game of the single entry ones is King of Fighters 15 which comes in at 289 signups and is a direct qualifier to the SNK World Championship. There will also be a special Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves event put on by SNK themselves which carries with it a qualification spot to the SNK World Championship as well as two spots for Esports World Cup.
Besides those games, two of Japan’s biggest team tournaments, both of them 5v5 format, have also been incorporated to the event — Beat Tribe Cup for Virtua Fighter 5: R.E.V.O. and Co-operation Cup for Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike with the former having more than 85 teams signed up and the latter sitting at over 70 teams registered.
