System mechanics, Switch 2 support and more will make June 5, 2025 an interesting day

The patch which brings Elena and her stage to Street Fighter 6, plus major balance changes for the rest of the cast, marking the start of Season 3, will likely be the largest update the game has seen to date.

On top of the balance changes for the currently playable cast, the game will include some system mechanic updates, although what those will be specifically hasn’t been revealed at this time.

June 5, 2025 also marks the game being released on the Switch 2, which will enable cross-platform play with users on Nintendo’s latest platform, and adds support for amiibo figures.

The Switch 2 port of Street Fighter 6 is said to be using DLSS, and it’s possible that this feature, along with additional upscalers, will be made available for people on the PC platform, enabling higher frame rates and other bonuses.

Also, Capcom previously said that they’ll start releasing new costumes this summer, along with reassessing the contents in Fighting Passes to alter how often they’re released, with a goal of making more of the content in them available to people in Fighting Ground (online and versus modes).

While Capcom has an interesting relationship with seasonal parts of the year and the dates they release characters, it’s possible that the June update could bring costumes and altered Fighting Passes items into the fold, as packaging multiple updates into the same patch is a way to save on development costs.

Summer technically begins on June 20, 2025, or 15 days after this patch hits, so it’s not too much of a stretch to see new costumes and altered Fighting Passes included with everything else.

Regardless if the last two items don’t make it into this update, it’s likely going to be the largest update to date because of the multitude of items being included.

Looking over the prior patch notes for the game, nothing Capcom has released so far looks to match the amount of updates that will be added to the core game.

Also, if things work out how they did for Season 2, it won’t be long after this patch hits that we’ll find out about who Season 3’s DLC characters will be.
