
I recently got my 9800x3d system and wanted to begin overclocking. I first started by trying to max uclk, which my chip seems to hate 6400 and errors less than 5 minutes into any test at 1.3v soc. It seems to be a lot happier at 6200, so i have been trying to tune that (8000 is not happening because dual rank).
However, even at 6200, at any soc voltage between 1.225 and 1.3, y-cruncher vt3 threw an error around an hour into the test. I set all timings to auto and set nitro to 2-3-1, and there was no change; still an error after about an hour. I then turned vddp up from 1.15 to 1.175, and my stability issues seem to be resolved. As I am typing this, I am 5 and a half hours into vt3 with no errors at 1.25 soc.
My question is, is this a safe voltage to use? Most overclocks i see on this sub and other online forms have around 1v and are perfectly stable. Is there other tweaks i can do to lower this voltage requirement? This is my first time having an AMD system (upgraded from an 11900k) and am still trying to learn how everything works.
I am using a 2×32 g.skill 6000 28-36-36-96 a-die kit with a 9800x3d and an asus x870e-e on the latest 1303 bios.
