  1. I went to school for modeling and game art. He used the polygons to create the natural look. To make it look like the tarp has a flow. Without vertex points you can’t stretch things. He needed those vertexes and polygons to keep the model structurally sound. It refelects on his ability to model. It saying it’s bad. But also not saying it’s great. There are better ways to create that tarp. Also in modeling the object has to portray the properties of a real life object.

    Although I’m not familiar with valves tools, i modeled in maya. I’m sure the same principles apply
