I thought that it would be fun to see what gamers considered the best FPS games on PC in the 1990s. So, I used MobyGames website, and I gotta say that while I knew what the first spot would be before I even started, some others surprised me. A few quite a lot actually. What do you think of them though? Anything you found curious about the order of games on the list?

  1. Hi. Can you tell me how you create the lists? I know, Moby Games, but what you take in consideration? The Moby score, the users… And at what number do you set the number of users? Thank you, you are doing a nice job.

  2. This was a fantastic video! It definitely shows that you had a lot of fun making it and it turned out extra fun to watch too. 🙂 There were so many brilliant moments worth a second watch in it too. This one also gets the 4X🥓 like.

I have so many childhood memories of playing Wolfenstein 3D at home and Quake 3 Arena at school, as well as skipping Doom after 2 minutes into the first level. XD

Oh, Chex Quest, nice! This game was distributed in the boxes of Chex cereal, so it was very family and kid friendly. 🙂

I think that the Terminators just took over Bethesda and have been replicating themselves across an entire series of games. 😀

System Shock is still high on my to play list. 🙂

Half Life is an FPS? I thought it was a FPC, so first person crowbarer. 😀

Some vampires and vampmaids are blood intolerant, so, to avoid an upset tummy, they have switched to a diet of apples and bacon, with the occasional banana. 😀

  3. To były pionierskie czasy, nie ma tu słabych gier. Każde studio chciało zrobić swojego Wolfa/Dooma/Quake ale lepszego więc kombinowało jak nie z grafiką to z gameplayem.
Dziwi mnie wysoka pozycja Rise of the Triad, gry o bardzo umównym swiecie na skutek słabego silnika z możliwościami daleko mniejszymi niż Terminator:Rampage (wolałem go wtedy of Dooma-herezja😉: bardziej znojomy świat filmowy, autentyczniejsze lokacje, lepsze animacje sprajtów i lightsourcing).

  4. A gdzie Realms of the Haunting, gra której demo bałem się włączać po ciemku😌
Ani TekWar, gdzie człowiek po raz pierwszy chodził po "wirtualnym" mieście.

  5. 9:14 Alien Trilogy was fantastic, especially considering the vast majority of Alien games have been garbage. Isolation and AVP are the only other good ones I've seen or played. Anyway, the music and sound in Trilogy still sounds great to me, very fitting. And like Silent Hill, the only benefit of draw distance limitation is best utilized here. On an unrelated note, I will always love BJ from Wolfenstein. The Terror-Billy and everything he represents is awesome. EDIT: Also wanted to mention that anyone who loved Blood should check out Cultic. It's the modern equivalent and an absolute visual treat.

  6. Excellent all around list, there is not much variety on the top, but I'm always curious in which order the usual suspects will show up.
Also I think you're missing Chasm in there, it was pretty innovative for its time, you could shoot limbs off of enemies!
    Keep doing those voice parodies!

  7. Sin was an amazing game and a great Lan party game, but I think it had a lot of trouble because it was EXTREMELY buggy at release, it crashed so often. It also had some adult stuff in it, but I don't remember that being in the news much, so it probably didn't affect the sales. Almost every single one of these games in this video was a staple at some point in all my Lan party sleepovers I had during my high school years in the 90s. The kids these days will never know the joys of having sleepovers every weekend, dragging their huge desktop machines and monitors to a friend's house, and having a night full of local deathmatch with all their friends. Staying up all night at home by yourself on multiplayer server with a bunch of randos is not the same, the current generations are so sad.

  8. Any reason why you didn't Ultima Underworld series made by the makers of System Shock? Too RPG to be considered FPS?
