People complaining about privacy in Windows…meanwhile their mobile devices is literally tracking their movement and sending their nudes to AI

people will talk about windows spying on you and then go on to literally talk about any private topic with their phone in the room with them, take nudes and backing them up to the cloud to be sent to train porn AIs

The hate for OneDrive is also baffling.

    E: Downvote all you want.

Your skill issue isn’t everyone else’s fuckin’ problem.

Literally easier to make Windows 11 more private than any Android/Apple device.

People, this is not a contest, privacy should not be invaded like that regardless of how not r/degoogle (d) people are.

CoPilot isn’t spying on you. Windows is probably usingelemetry and OneDrive to though.

Your phone on the other hand, definitely is. It’s got ears on you, gps on you, in some cases has your heart rate, the networks you connect to, and likely has a network provided unencrypted DNS to spy on your web traffic.

That’s on top of all the sensitive information you give it.

Your definition of “spying” is interesting.

So how many users worried about spying on windows11 and still use social media?

The people who are spamming “but your phone!!!” need to get some critical thinking skills. You know what phone I have? An unlocked Google Pixel, running lineageOS, free of all Google’s data harvesting trojan apps. And I, too, hate Microsoft and Windows spyware/telemetry. I’m pretty thorough about this.

But you know what? Not everyone has the privilege of an unlocked bootloader. Verizon locks all their phones’ bootloaders permanently. Security and privacy are all about harm reduction, you’re not a liar or a hypocrite if you aren’t able to fully eliminate every single possible attack surface.

If you have a car manufactured after 2018, it’s selling your data. Are you gonna sell it just to buy a shittier car that’s more private, even if you don’t have the money? No, you’re not.

Chill out and acknowledge that we, as the customers, should be allowed to criticize companies for being invasive. Trust me, I hate Google too, just as much as Microsoft. But two companies control the smartphone market, and both of them are terribly unkeen on user privacy. There’s not many alternatives. Right now, we should be doing whatever we can to keep the pressure on companies, either legally or financially- whichever is an option.

For everyone stuck on Windows for any reason, consider using a telemetry blocking firewall such as Portmaster. You can also disable select telemetry, OneDrive, and AI components through community developed tools.

my brother in christ, you’re using reddit

Regardless, the tracking telemetry is gonna become more common once Windows 10 is out of the picture next year. Everyone should familiarize themselves with their privacy settings while you still can.

Just install the enterprise edition, it comes without all of that pack in shitware
