I first built this pc back when DDR5 had first come out and had problems then as well as now. I put the pc together hastily, so cable management was bad, and I had crashing issues using the XMP profile on the ram kit (Corsair Vengeance RGB 2x16gb 6000MT/s CMH32GX5M2D6000C36W) I had, so I decided to run it at base speed. Recently, my motherboard died and I sent it to be RMA'd. While replacing the motherboard (Asus ROG Strix X670E-a) , I decided to fix the other problems I had, as well as building a custom water cooling loop, which I'm still troubleshooting as well.
I discovered that the ram kit I had was not compatible with the motherboard I bought, so I bought a new ram kit (Corsair Dominator Titanium RGB 2x16gb 6400MT/s CMP32GX5M2B6400C32W). I now have the pc together and its working, but I'm still running into the same crashing issues using the XMP profile. The pc doesn't crash while gaming or running benchmarks. I have run multiple hours of Time spy extreme, Port Royal, Cinebench 2024, and two different configs of TestMem5 and experienced no crashes. I only experience crashes while the pc is idling while I'm away from it and it sometimes freezes while watching videos.
I've changed multiple settings in bios while even following this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlYxmRcdLVw
I haven't left the new ram kit at base speed to test if it would still crash, but there would be no point if I cant get the speeds I bought. I had my CPU (Ryzen 7 7700x) on a small undervolt using the curve optimizer with a magnitude of -15, but disabling that resulted in no difference. I've reseated the ram, done multiple power cycles, and reset the CMOS. I'm at my wits end as every crash is starting to corrupt WIFI and Bluetooth drivers that I have to fix with multiple restarts whenever I come back to the pc. Did I get sent a botched motherboard or is my CPU the issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
