I recently built a new midrange rig (specs in screenshot) and I want to take advantage of the XMP boost for my RAM, but I don’t fully understand the various options in the Aorus BIOS.

There’s DDR5 Auto Booster which says it automatically boosts the RAM when needed, DDR5 XMP Booster which uses pre-made profiles for specific RAM sticks (screenshot- I’ve highlighted the one I THINK I’m supposed to use…), then there’s Extreme Memory Profile(X.M.P.) which uses a generic boost profile. Selecting one of the options disables the others.

I have no idea which is best… does anyone have insight into these settings?

Hynix one’s with 6400MHz CL32-40-40-84 seems the faster for me, but honestly I’m pretty confused with all those options which don’t even seems to be placed in any logical order (or it could just be me).

Only thing I know is you can try running them at 6000MHz and try lowering timings starting from 40-40-40-84.
I’d try to lower the first 3 by 2 values (so CL38-38-38-84) and leave 4th at 84, keep in mind you need to save the settings in the BIOS as a profile and need a clear CMOS button on your motherboard, so you can hit that button in case it doesn’t boot and load your settings later from the saved ones in the BIOS.

If you can’t get it to boot, higher all the values you changed by 2 (for example if it fails at 30-30-30-84, use 32-32-32-84, just an example no real numbers).

Keep in mind Ryzen 7000s are affected the most from timings, whil Intel tends to benefit more from higher frequencies.

Trial and error, use the saved profiles in BIOS and the clear CMOS button every time you need them and you can’t be wrong (of course avoid using extreme and unrealistic values).
