So got my desk done last night since my butcher block came in. I knew I wanted the Ikea Alex style but not the limited sizes of their desk and counter tops (particularly the depth.) So i ordered a custom-sized butcher clock from a local company (96 x 30.)
I loved the drawers and faux drawer from my old desk so decided to keep those and make my own tops for them which I just wood glued on (the boards were about $20 all together plus paint and I have a good amount left over) and to top it off I used 2 inch table legs as spacers (each set of 4 was $10 on Amazon but I recommend creating two separate orders because I initially ordered a quantity of two and they sent me one so I had to order another set get a partial refund for the first order.)
Overall I love it. I have the g9 57" as my primary monitor so the depth is a blessing and being able to comfortably have my monitor, desktop, accessories, etc on my desk is great.
The height from floor to desktop is 34". I consider it a great "middle" height because even though it isn't a standing desk it's pretty comfortable to stand and stretch my legs for a while when doing productivity stuff (I don't like looking down while gaming.)
Still a ways to go in this room with paint, lighting, etc but my rig and desk are complete so at least I'm good to go while getting that stuff figured out.
I wish this sub allowed multiple pics. I took a bunch of WIP ones and it stinks not being able to share those.
Thanks to all of you for the pics and inspiration. This is a great community.
