I would like to Share the result of a Head to Head comparison between those 2 CPUs.
I found that 3dmark Fire Strike is the only Benchmark that runs on the opteron 170 denmark dual core; due to its Limited instruction set and lack of erverything since SSE3.
I had built several Retro setups lately.
The socket 775 came to life when i found a very tidy Gigabyte p45-ds3p with noctua HSF and i put it together with the fastest components i could find in my drawers.
The socket 939 with Asrock dual ULi Board was merely meant to test old agp cards that i have plenty of. Since both boards have a PCIe Slot, i put in a gt1030 and did some benchmarking.
The more seasoned audience may remember the moment, we saw the Conroe Launch benchmarks in 2006.
I had an opteron 144 followed by a 3800+ dual core A64 back then…. Followed by an Intel e7200 and another 10 years on the dark side.
So here we have the showdown between high End CPUs; Fall 2005 vs. Winter 2007.
