Treasure Island is included because it's, to the best of my knowledge, the first adaptation of the book into a video game. I was torn between the different versions of the game, the Spectrum version has a much nicer cover art (as in it actually has some art on it), but went with the Plus4 as it came with a map of "Treasure Island".

Pirates! To be honest hardly needs justification because it still stands as one of the best attempts at making a Pirate video game nearly 40 years later. It's impressively deep for such an old game and, thanks to its nonlinear nature, allows for players to build their own story as they play. The fact its been revived and remade through the years is proof that it's a game to be treasured… [sorry]

I'm also looking to include…

The Secret of Monkey Island

Skies of Arcadia

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Sea of Thieves

Can anyone think of any others that would fit the theme that are worthy of inclusion?

Great choices so far! and brilliant idea as a whole – definitely love the thought of Skies of Arcadia and Assassins creed being included!

Pirates of the Burning Sea, a pirate-themed MMO that is still operating.

pirates: legend of the black buccaneer is a hidden gem that was often found in bargain bins

Are Flash games allowed? If so there is a game called Cursed Winds.

Ratchet and Clank: A Quest for Booty. A black sheep of the series but it counts, right?

There was a Scott Adams text adventure on cartridge for the VIC20 called Pirate Cove.

I can’t remember much about it now, it was 40(!) years ago.

That box in purple could be an entire exhibition. Legendary game.

  11. One of my old favorites is Sea Legends, an old MS-DOS game from the 90:s.

Incredible depth for a game that old.

Maybe a bit tenuous but Patrician 3 (and by extension the OG Port Royal games).

You could engage in piracy and pirates feature as the main enemies, but they are probably not “Pirate” games…

So glad you included Skies of Arcadia, that one is an absolute gem! 😊

    Sea Dogs.

    Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales.

I dont know if you’ll be able to find a boxed copy, but Puzzle Pirates would be a very worthy inclusion. Very few games have done the whole “multiplayer vehicle operation” thing as well as that game did.

I used to play treasure island back in the dark ages. Also used to play a game called fire ant around the same time.

Infocom’s *Plundered Hearts*, perhaps? An attempt at historic romance in interactive fiction (text adventure) form. The player character is not a pirate, but the canonically good one among her love interests is.

Uncharted Waters: New Horizons was a sailing game on the SNES that has pirates in it and you can be one as well

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker was quite pirate themed (Tetra etc)

I take it you’ve gone through the “Pirates” tag on Steam? [https://store.steampowered.com/tags/en/Pirates](https://store.steampowered.com/tags/en/Pirates)

There’s a lot of crud in there, as well as some I’d say wouldn’t fit your brief but would probably offer a comprehensive look.
