Can be MMORPG, ARPG, CRPG, MMOACRPG, etc. Any genre, I’m curious about satisfying online healer/support experiences.

Wow. Genuinely no other MMO comes close in terms of healing.
Rajamic
Original Guild Wars was pretty good for that until people figured out how to make immortal Protection Monks that required nerfs.
Telethex
Guild wars. The original I mean. You were always the centerpoint of your team.
Many others games feel a bit like you were just healing bars..

Star Wars Galaxies. Never have I ever found another game where I can spend 100s of hours healing other players in combat, buffing their stats, making money, AND progressing up from a medic to a doctor to a master doctor.
Want to run and gun with the friends on wild missions? Become a COMBAT medic by specializing in pistols AND medic.
Want to just sit around in a major city hub and craft and trade and make money? Become a DOCTOR and spend your time crafting health packs to sell on the market, stims to buff fellow players for $$$, and selling your healing services.
Some day maybe the SWG Emu projects will achieve the critical mass of players to make the economy hum again.
Mic drop.

Everquest. being high level and buffing newbies in the starting areas was the best. I spent so much time doing that. Made a ton of friends. Never found another MMO like it.

Not an MMO, but Remnant 2. I did a run through one of the world’s earlier with 2 random players I joined in with, I use a healer build, and all of the boss fights we did wouldn’t have been single try wins if it hadn’t been for me healing them and reviving them. It’s satisfying.
KnuteViking
City of heroes. Often you had to be very active in your healing and support role. I enjoyed taking super jump as my movement power to leap around the fight dropping aoe heals. Fun stuff.
x-Justice
DCUO of the ones I’ve played extensively. You ACTUALLY have to heal, and shield…constantly. If you don’t, everyone dies.

I liked healing in FFXI :3 it was a slower, turn based? MMO, but all the combat skills leveled up separately, including healing and enfeebling/etc, it was soo satisfying running around the world healing randoms watching your healing exp go up, i remember my friend and i spent all day just running around healing random newbies and partys struggling, and maxed out our healing levels :3 making new friends in the process, oh and ONLY healers could teleport (they could TP the whole party), and the world was MASSIVE (it took 30 minutes to cross a single map, sometimes longer, and most things would 1 shot you without a full party) so healers were really in demand

RIFT lol.
Like for real the multi class customization that game had. I could be a combination of 2 healers and a buffer. Or a healer buffer and debuffer. The customization of that game was next level even by today’s standards.

GW2, High-end try-hard raids have a solo healer for 10 man content, 2 5 man squads. All skills can only target 5 at a time, so you need to fully heal your squad before healing the other one. Oh you’re also the main tank while providing a DPS Boon (Buff) 🙂
Extremely satisfying when done correctly.

The old Warhammer MMO. The Disciple of Khaine was a dual sword damage dealer that needed to do damage in order to heal. Was pretty awesome.

Not an MMO but the legendary McDonalds build in Monster Hunter World makes my team a literal immortal.

SWTOR Operative healing was OP .. outside of MMOs playing Mercy in Overwatch was fun, it was even better when she could Res the whole team, I only got a 5 Res once, they then all promptly died again plus me.

good old DAoC.. where the healer class was so good that if you were good at doing your job you never actually have to heal.

As with all teamwork based things, it’s less about the game and more about the people you are playing with. A middling game with people you really get along with well is better than the absolutely best game in the world with people you don’t want to be playing it with.
That said, my wife really likes playing a holy priest in WoW. I never got the hang of healing so I tend to stick to being a damage sponge.

It was yeeeeeears ago, but World of Warcraft I ran as a healer and I have never experienced a game with a similar importance on healer classes.

Medic in Planetside 2. Pushing the Crown with the whole Platoon requires a lot of revive grenades and heals.
SirLollo
Neverwinter Online before the class rework.
The Devout Cleric was literally a double must have in the party, and the optimized party was made of 1 Guardian Fighter, 1 Great Weapon Master, 1 other support and 2 Clerics, 1 per each subclass.
Literally all you would do is spam buffs and debuffs, then press your Daily Special and watch the DPS destroy the 10-million HP bar in less than 20 seconds.
After the rework the boss fights take 5-10 minutes because buffs do not exist anymore and clerics/paladins/warlocks are only healers, which is good but it’s incredibly boring and skill-less.

Healing spellslinger was some of the most fun I’ve had in an MMO. Skillshot heals??
Outside of MMOs it’s Overwatch and Ana specifically.
I guess I just really like shooting my team with healing bullets

Bishop in L2 was very interesting to heal, and so spectacular to see/perform mass resurrection when whole clan rising up. But yeah, you are the target #1 to be killed.

I don’t play a lot of support/healer characters, but there was this one MMO game that I actually felt powerful and had control of the battle as a healer. It was DC Universe Online. I like plants and animals, so I picked the power to control the plant (healer/support class) and flying.
This game has PVP between Heroes and Villains players. I played with my brother, who built a bruiser/tank. So, when we fought other players. I was just hovering on top of my bro while he aggro everything and make sure nothing gets to me. And man, my healings and buffs were so powerful! My bro could go all out and recklessly without any worries lol. His health rarely went down more than half, and he can deal a lot of damage even as a tank because of my buffs!
Those were the good old times with my little bro, sadly now he’s in college, has his close friend group, and started a rock band with them. So, we don’t communicate nor play games together much anymore. We’re 9 years apart in age too, so that doesn’t help 🙁

World of Warcraft, shadow priest. I stopped after MoP so the game might be very different now, idc. But when I played, SP was a very solid dps/off heal build that’s also easy to gear and play well, outside of serious end game of course. I once pulled a group through Stratholme after the healer tapped out, and more than a few times I helped turn the tide when things got hairy in instances.
Mad_Moodin
FFXIV is kind of fun.
You spend 90% of your time doing dps and and just have a bunch of clutch cooldown spells that are your main way to heal.
