    I can only view this as an attempt to insulate Russian players from the outside world, currently one of the few remaining outlets/contact points to Russia is through gaming. You can still see them online in games sometimes, Steam/Counter Strike is filled with them possibly because they have few other options for free online gaming.

    I really feel bad for the Russian teenagers there. They have to grow up knowing theres an outside world, they’ll just rarely interact with it

    This is a bribe disguised as a project meant to funnel public money to a chosen few. They’ll invest a few billion, then come out saying they failed and the money will be gone.

    Russians dont really play consoles too much. Plastation has a small presence but the vast majority are PC gamers and will stay that way for a multitude of reasons.

    This money would be better spent setting up a fund to help upcoming devs teams. Russians arent short on good programmers and game designers. This would have a way bigger reach than some custom box.
