I am not that young and seen quite a few awkward attempts to sell merchandise. This cookbook caught me off-guard. What’s next ? Skyrim cold vax stripes? Doom Eternal soap or Tetris condoms. Feel free to name and shame similar attempts to milk a game brand.

It’s now verified that there’s no aliens

Remove from oven or pan earlier to keep undercooked, like Halo: Infinite

There’s cookbooks for most games now. Fallout, Elder Scrolls, WoW, Dragon Age. I’ve seen an Assassin’s Creed one. There’s a lot. And some of them are actually pretty okay

Every gamer has a clueless relative who only knows that so-and-so plays Halo so they would clearly need and use a Halo cookbook, right?

Reminds me of everything that has some sort of pixel/cube pattern and the word craft somewhere in the name. Sketchers makes a Mega-Craft shoe that my son has.

there is a growing pile of these. Fallout cookbook, skyrim cookbook, disney star wars cookbook leading the charge.

I’ve found most to have recipes that are meh at best, taking some basic thing and just renaming it to suit the theme of the book.

They are harmless fun for people who like the franchises they are based on.

The only food-related thing I can even think of in relation to Halo is the grunts talking about food nipple.

Because Sangheili deserve nice food as well, you racist!

  8. Asher_Tye

Everything has a cookbook now. I’m still a little unnerved by the Hocus Pocus one

  9. Lemp_Triscuit11

They know their market; that just looks like a BDubs menu lol

    “Recipes from across the galaxy”

    Only shows earth food.

  11. Thendofreason

For the guy who’s only seen the show and never played the games.

Fairly certain bungie have also released a destiny cookbook, another one of their IP titles.

  14. MrServitor

I mean as someone with a cooking hobby i would buy a star wars cooking book with those blue noodles in mandalorian for example.

But the recipes have to look “out of this world” literally.

  15. Accomplished_Toe1447

Should just be an MRE cook book.

  16. FusRoaldDah1

It better have the recipe for whatever comes out of the Grunt food nipples

  17. Krongfah

There are plenty of video game themed cookbooks already and honestly most of them are pretty good. Fallout cookbook, Skyrim cookbook, Final Fantasy cookbook. They are just for fun.

Same with this one. Although it’s a clear attempt at “milking” a brand name, the book itself is pretty good. It has a variety of good recipes from different cultures (themed as from across the Halo universe), lore-friendly names, and small lore tidbits and worldbuildings for hardcore Halo lore fans. As far as “milking” goes, this is a pretty good one.

One of my fav moments in the franchise is when Master Chief, having just destroyed a covenant cruiser, goes to town on a plate of churros.

  19. metalyger

There should be a Resident Evil 7 cook book with nothing but recipes for rotten food, with a disclaimer not to actually eat or serve anything to anyone.

  20. antimatt_r

Some game cookbooks make sense when food is part of the gameplay and the food is unique, like Fallout or fantasy games. This one just confuses me. What makes a burger in the a Halo universe any different from reality?

  21. Azurephoenix99

Which kind of cookbook is it? One that actually considers personality and lore implications of the characters/setting in the recipes, or is it the kind that just slaps recognizable faces on generic recipes and calls it a day?

Considering the Halo franchise isn’t known for its food, I’m assuming the latter?

  22. All of these are written by the same person, too. I was gifted a Final Fantasy 14 cookbook written by this author that looks nearly identical. The recipes are solid, they’re pretty harmless gift fodder for moms who don’t understand their kids’ hobbies and sometimes contain some cute references and jokes. The one I have, at least, does feel like it was written by a fan of the game.

Tetris Condoms – it doesn’t matter if you’ve got an L shape or a J shape we’ve got the perfect fit for you.

Disclaimer: if you have a T shape please consult your doctor.

  24. So what Halo is the Churros one, again? I must have missed the time Master Chief stopped at a Mexican restaurant.

  25. zappy487

Ok, but seriously though, if the Chief canonically doesn’t take his armor off, how does he eat?

  26. Sober_Browns_Fan

Oh I know what the ladies like.

    Ladies dig fresh churros.

  27. THE_TamaDrummer

Master chief, mind telling me what you’re doing in that kitchen?

  28. HampsterBowlingBall

The recipies should be nothing but how to make army rations and nutrient-rich paste because I doubt the Spartans eat anything else. I dont think Master Chief has ever even SEEN a burger.

  29. pplatt69

These IP cookbooks are mostly pretty dumb. Someone gave me the Fallout Ckbk, and I appreciate the humor in it, but the few recipes aren’t particularly noteworthy, just like every one of these things.

The only one I’ve seen that I thought was pretty good and worth the money is the Bobs Burgers cookbook.

  30. Moleandmouse

This just seems odd, not only is food never mentioned in Halo but also most the game is just humanity. So it’s just a regular cook book?

I understand it for other games as those games often have foods that are different than would be in a normal cook book or have a setting that would have food different to a normal cook book.

  31. I think the real question is if it has some recipes for moa burgers

  32. KraZe_2012

There is Halo Infinite soap already btw, by Sasquatch.

  33. Omnizoom

Games that actually have cooking or food in them having a cook book makes sense so long as the food is potentially possible, like a Zelda cookbook makes sense since you can make a non fantasy version of most things in it.

Meanwhile one like this is throwing a halo themed name on the dish and vaguely linking it to the franchise to just milk it
