  1. The creator of Stardew Valley had said he wanted his own Harvest Moon. Palworld would’ve come out regardless, I would think, because you don’t need Arceus for everyone to have wanted like open world Pokémon almost since it came out. Pokemon was always disappointing people that it refused to open up and be a real game.

I love the whole premise of Palworld, because it takes the setting of monster taming games to its logical extreme. It feels realistic that, if those monsters exited, we would want to hunt them, shoot them, eat them, or put them to work for us, since that’s what we do with real animals.

Why wouldn’t we be able to pull out a weapon and help our monster fight? Why wouldn’t a sphere that can seal matter inside itself also be able to trap humans? If those monsters have human level intelligence, why not give them a minigun?

Stardew Valley is a fantastic passion project done by one man for the love of it. This is art.

Palworld is a mid survival crafting sim built to exploit a gap in the market by replacing conan exiles slaves with off-brand pokemon. This is merely content.

  4. RigobertoFulgencio69

lmfao what the hell is this shit.

Palworld plays absolutely nothing like Pokemon.

  5. Random_Emolga

Palworld fans have only 2 things to say:

    1) It plays nothing like Pokémon! It’s closer to Ark.

    2) Here’s why it’s better than Pokémon.

  6. Fwuffykins

The way it feels to me: Every mainline pokemon game expands the gameplay potential of the core concept 5-10%. Arceus expanded the concept maybe 20-30%. People commended this as a huge step forward because it was a much bigger jump than we were used to. Then Palworld comes along evolved the concept 70-80%. People calling it a ripoff isn’t fair because it does so much that pokemon doesnt. Was Halo CE a “ripoff” of doom?

  7. CMDR_omnicognate

again, pokemon and palworld dont play anything alike at all, palworld plays like Ark

  8. Pani_Duchesse_Kalos

ark knock off from devs that can’t finish their last project

  9. bustedtuna

This is very insulting to Stardew Valley, imo.

  10. Any_Secretary_4925

palworld *and* pokemon suck. stop fucking putting your games in early access

  11. Meet_Foot

Everyone is thinking about Palworld incorrectly, and I think that’s why people are so mad or disappointed.

It’s a survival crafting game. The pokemon stuff if just a set of mechanics to serve the realization of that genre. Yes, pals are pokemon ripoffs, but these are entirely different kinds of games.

A comparison to Arceus, in particular, is purely superficial.

  12. Can these posts just get deleted? They add nothing to the topic and it’s just the same drivel that it was when it was posted before (complaining about people comparing shit). It just causes arguments in the comments that derail into people having insult matches.

The insistence of palworld fans to try and win over Pokémon fans is so weird. I’m a guy who’s a Pokémon fan who thinks the switch games, all of them, have been a joke. That said the reason I’m a Pokémon fan is because I like the pvp in the games, shiny hunting, the narratives, the lore, and the designs of the creatures themselves. I don’t like Pokémon just because it’s a monster collecting game. The palworld Pokémon drama would be like if a GTA clone came out with a protagonist who wore overalls and a red cap and all the fans were like this is the new Mario, Nintendo could never make this.

  14. Austoman

I think Palworld was an obvious rip off of Pocket Mortys. They both feature capturing random encounter enemies so they are basically the same.

    (/s)

  15. Cerberus-Coco-Mimi

im sure ark survival is more palworld

  16. I wouldn’t call palworld art. It’s a fun game, but it’s far from being groundbreaking.

  17. general_motus

I didn’t realise Stardew Valley was Harvest Moon with guns.

  18. Dyingdaze89

How great was Back to Nature on the PS1, tho? Good times.

  19. WildCardP3P

You could’ve put any other Harvest Moon game there and I would’ve agreed, but I’ve never played a better farming sim than wonderful life. That game is a masterpiece. Not saying Stardew Valley isn’t good though, I enjoyed it too.

  20. Artanis137

Honestly Palworld is only similar to Pokemon in terms of monster design but even then it’s more artstyle then anything else.

Honestly it’s much closer to Ark Survival Evolved.

  21. samjacbak

    Insulting to stardew valley.

It’s insinuating Stardew cut corners by using AI to bypass copyright and accidentally steal IP from harvest moon. Plus actively stealing labor from artists by using AI at all.

    So… No.

  22. sawbladex

Palworld reminds me of Oxygen Not Included and Rimworld.

  23. GiantPato

Except Palworld is just an Unreal 5 asset flip

  24. tokkyuuressha

Palworld is mostly their previous game craftopia, with pokemon elements blended into it. They have been at it for years. Perhaps when they saw arceus they got the idea to blend it into their previous game and it clicked.

  25. Zoombini22

Pal World is a totally different genre and just lifted Pokémon creature designs. Stardew is basically the opposite, same genre as Harvest Moon but made from scratch.

  26. thatHecklerOverThere

    Uh… No.

Stardew is a game in the genre built by harvest moon, but it doesn’t share an art style or really any design elements, just the gameplay loop.

Palworld doesn’t share a gameplay loop with Pokémon at all. It shares a gameplay mechanic, and mimics the art style and designs so much people wonder if they actually took Pokémon assets, but the core loop is survival sandbox.

  27. ShinyTailbone

Y’all care more than Nintendo does. It’s pathetic.

  28. My wife LOVES Harvest Moon, she literally plays like 3 different versions at the same time sometimes. Won’t touch Stardew lmfao

  29. Danominator

    Arceus is awful.

And the added lore that Pokemon all inexplicably have the ability to shrink. That’s why pokeballs work. Not because the ball makes them shrink to catch them but the Pokemon can all shrink for no reason. So they invented pokeballs to make use of that pointless power and catch them. It’s just about the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard

  30. Grassy_MC

Thank you for actually using pokemon Arcrues and not let’s go Pikachu or Violet.

  31. Halvus_I

Which is why copyright length is way too long. 20 years should be the max. No art comes from the void.
