  1. I played WoW… feels like 100 years ago 🙂 I would totally play again if it came on the xbox cloud. Not sure how i would make it work on console, but yeah. 🙂 Fun memories.

  2. Might actually get good games now that they’re firing them crusty workers that don’t listen to the playerbase

  3. Ya, I was thinking about switching platforms but I will most definitely will soon. I love physical and i like games. I been on Xbox since the 2010's with the 360, and it has been my main platform. But since Xbox wants to go all digital and turn the console into glorified (steam box), Ill just move to pc for their games. Ill buy everything else on ps5, for the time being. If Xbox wants to sacrifice physical games as an opinion, then ill just stop buying 3rd party games for it, cancel my subscription, and just pay $15 for the month when there's a game i wanna play a couple times a year. I already have way too many games as it is. lol

  4. The streaming wars will most likely hit the gaming industry if digital only is the future by the end of the decade.

Yeah exclusives will be a thing but most devs or studios will have some kind of subscription survice you'll probably have to pay for just like with streaming services.

Once those digital only consoles come out I think I'm done with hobby as a whole.

  5. What I dont understand is why people would ask Schreier if they are getting laid off. How tf would he know? Only the top of the food chain knows who is getting laid off and I doubt anyone in that position would risk their career to talk to Schreier.

  6. Don’t worry….the executives will still keep their over compensation bonus laden pay, they will keep saying record profits quarter after quarter….it’s just the peons getting screwed again.

  7. There's always a decent amount of virtue signaling that I find annoying when these layoffs occur. Anyone who paid any attention at all knew this was coming. It's what these huge companies do. Just don't forget to chant 'corpos bad' to offset that gamepass autodraft, it makes all the difference /s.

  8. has nothing to do with "consolidation", it has to do with the shit economy….. elections have consequences, thanks bidenomics!

  9. This always happens after a merger. It’s always shocking to see how naive content creators are.

  10. I'm so so so disappointed with the vision that Xbox currently has for the platform.

  11. Look a lot of companies over, promised, and overspent slightly before and during the pandemic. Money was really cheap to borrow. Then you could practically get something for nothing. Interest rates were so low they were negligible. Now if you’re a business, you usually have money you’ve borrowed and the plan was to just pay it off slowly, and borrow more money to make initial payments, and have a new refresh loan, every so often, that’s actually how business is usually do things they borrow one chunk of money you pay it down you borrow some more money make an entire payment on that loan and pay off the new loan. What happens if the new loan you borrow has much higher interest rates that presents a problem. what happens when the cost of doing business goes up when inflation kicks in and you have not accounted for that that presents a problem. Finally, what happens when you overpromise and can’t deliver that present a problem. Even the most successful publishers have said we have to scale back. Look at the creators of Fortnite. They said bring it back some. Look at Sony right now they’re counting pennies looking at great games that nearly one game of the year and saying that wasn’t very profitable for us. We need to find a better way to make money. It’s getting more expensive than ever to actually make a video game to run a company and now you can’t blame Company for just acquiring another company and saying where is the fact where can we trim. If we have too many people running both HR departments some people have to go. If we have too many people running, the accounting departments some people have to go, if we have too many testers to test all these video games, some people have to go. They’re not letting people go because they don’t have money. They’re letting people go because it would be a waste of money to keep them. You don’t keep employees on hand because you are running a for profit business that has investors that have standards. Try telling those investors we want to keep 1900 people who make let’s say $70,000 a year maybe more plus benefits we want to keep all these people on hand and spend several million dollars it won’t bring a lot of financial benefit to the company but let us spend these millions of dollars anyway. The board would demand everybody step down. If the board did not start firing people investors would they would start voting people out they would start selling shares of the company. This is something we as gamers don’t think about but the people who put the money into the company they do. There’s a reason Microsoft is over $400 a share, it’s because they make smart financial decisions. This is a financial decision that had to be made painful yes but still smart.

  12. 7:58 I don't know why he even said this. This is a business. If they could have let Bobby cottage go and gave him $0 they would have. Some of the money he gets is based on him stepping down but most of it is based on severance and bonuses he gets based on how he steps down. He is fired then he gets substantially less if he steps down because he wants to he gets a different amount and if he is forced to step down because of changing leadership he gets what he gets right now. This is something you can literally just look up. There was no keeping the money and giving it to the employees to not terminate them. It's not how that works.

  13. Bruh, this is crazy. Shawn Layden was correct, the industry can't sustain itself. More Greedfalls/Lies of P's/Yakuza's….less big big budget Spidermans/Halo/CoD wannables….

  14. 9:20 here's another situation of you. Just saying things that are inaccurate to your audience. The studio who made prey and dishonored are not the same team that made red fall. They're both part of arkane but they're completely different teams. Arkane Austin made redfall and Arkane Lyon made pray and dishonored and now blade.

  15. Bobby didn’t get a payout. You guys need to better understand how these things work. He was the CEO of a company guess what his contract with the company before being purchased already had huge payouts in it when he left huge stock options. When somebody steps in and buys the company for $93 a share and you’re the one holding a lot of those shares guess what you get to step away with a lot of money. Don’t act as if Microsoft gave him money. That is not the case anybody who had shares in Activision/blizzard got huge chunks of cash he just happened to have a lot of shares in the company because he’s been around for how many years?. Don’t act as if Microsoft gave him money and said thanks Bobby see you later that’s not what happened and I hate that you guys make it sound like that. Be real with it tell people how it actually works when it CEO leaves a company and the contract has it written in that they get a golden parachute.

  16. All these lay offs have nothing to do with a covid bubble. The economy is about to collapse and were on the turn towards WW3.

  17. Layoffs are incredibly common. I get it's bad for those people but this isn't new and it will continue. It's unavoidable and people gotta stop acting like this actually a big deal because it's really not.

  18. Dude shut up 🤣 please the XBOX brand isn't hurting at all. These are duplicate jobs that no company would want or need at all.

  19. As a big physical game collector it sucks to hear this but I kind of saw it coming seeing how ghostwire and hi fi never got a physical and with the recent announcement of hellblade 2. Honestly was surprised when deathloop got one. But who knows….some games could always get a physical much later like psychonauts 2 did.

  20. I guess years of hiring people not based on talent and ability, but instead based on sexuality, gender, race has really started to take its toll. These studios are full of talentless people, and it's clear when you see the games that they're making. Good riddance I say.
