So I’ve been fiddling with my settings in Intel Extreme Tuning Utility trying to figure everything out and tinker with my i7-13700K. I realized why my P-Cores 4 and 5 were running a little hotter than the others. It was because they were set at 54X while the other 6 were set at 53X. P-Cores 4 and 5 also have little stars next to them, I guess denoting that those are the two best cores, hence why they get to be 100Mhz faster than the others.
So I changed them both to 53X to try to get the temps to go down on them. When I did this, I also noticed under the setting Performance Active-Core Tuning, 1 Active Core and 2 Active Cores were both set at 54X, while the other 6 were set at 53X. So I changed those two values to 53X as well.
But even still, on the right side of the screen where the settings are all shown, you can see that the setting for At Boot for 1 Active Performance Core and 2 Active Performance Cores is still set at 54X, while the Proposed is 53X. The other 6 are all 53X in both At Boot and Proposed.
So I’m wondering why that is, what At Boot even specifically means, and why those values aren’t changing to 53X, even when I have them changed to 53X under Performance Active-Core Tuning. I’ll include screenshots below so you can see what I’m talking about and also a screenshot with me changing the value on Active Core 1 under Performance Active-Core Tuning and you can see that it changes Proposed to 54X. But like the other screenshot shows, even when I change it back to 53X, the At Boot still stays at 54X. The final screenshot will show what the stock settings looked like before I changed anything, besides stuff like the undervolt and the Turbo Boost power limits to 253W instead of Unlimited.
