Just to be clear, this isn’t a whine post – just an info post. I saw some people write that they think the delayed molotov extinguish is only visual when it isn’t – CS2 extinguish lets through about 1-3 more ticks than CS:GO. CS:GO extinguish might be instant.
The damage ramp up in CS2 is also a bit more random. In CS:GO, the ‘4’ gets repeated twice pretty much every time, while in CS2 numbers get repeated more often and sometimes get skipped.
— Overall, it’s possible the delayed extinguish was done as a means of nerfing rushes; i.e. make sure that when Terrorists rush a site they would take at least some damage from the molotov. In CS2 you’re guaranteed to take at least 3-12 damage from a Molotov (from the first few ticks) whereas in CS:GO, with a well timed extinguish, you might take no damage at all.
Up to you to decide if it’s a good change.
— UPDATE: [I was able to bring down the damage difference to one tick with a right-click test](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyNXclFfe0E), but it has to be timed and angled extremely well. Basically all it means is at least 1 tick of damage is guaranteed and it is at least somewhat skill based.

You’ll burn your marshmallows in CS2.

Damn I thought this was only a visual change. I’d be more ok with this if there was visual feedback that the smoke is gonna take longer to extinguish it. It’s just kind of awkward now since you might get confused and think the smoke missed

It was pretty clear from other videos posted here though
There were (Are) some dedicated folks spreading the info that it was only visual (without any proof of course) using pseud-technical jargon.

Ah we’re back to this stage of the subreddit, unfortunately for this one I don’t see a disprove/reprove/disprove/reprove post loop which is part of the fun. Reading the comments all arrogantly contradicting each other on each thread was a great time

The most basic bare bones mechanics weren’t even tested before shipping this off lol. Ahahaha Valve literally has no quality control.

I will be honest. I was expecting a meme where you threw the smoke and the molly just carried on going under the smoke, like it did 25% (Totally made up, but my god is got annoying) of the time in CS:GO…

Funny… I made a post about this a couple months ago and got downvoted to hell and told I was crazy. Thanks for sharing and fuck Reddit.
