
When my AM5 motherboard failed, I had to replace it with an old Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 and an FX 6300. I had the option of a Phenom II X4 955, but as the thing was worse than the FX I have it for emergency repairs.
However, this motherboard has some issues with overclocking.
It can overclock the FX up to 4 GHz base and 4.6 GHz boost without increasing the voltage, and even higher with more voltage.
The overclocked CPU scores 625 on Single Core and 1847 on Multi Core on Geekbench, which is better than the i5-3470 and some 8-core FXs.
But the problem is that every time I turn off the machine, it resets the clocks to the default values and shows an overclocking error.
Even if lowering the frequency. Even if I increase the clocks 100mhz more than the original base clock, it happens again.
It also prevents me from overclocking again until I boot into the OS and restart again. Turning the machine off immediately resets the overclocks.
Why does this happen? How can I solve it?
