So in the process of trying to optimize my 5700X at 47W (35W TDP) I collected some data that may be useful, even if only to one person, so I figured I’d share it.

After letting the PC idle for 10mins before each test, I ran Cinebench R23 twice and took the second score each time.

BIOS settings are odd because I’m tuning for lowered power consumption.
Curve Optimizer: -30 all-cores
Boost Override: +200MHz
FCLK: 1800MHz
SOC: 920mV
VDDP: 880mV
VDDG CCD: 840mV
VDDG IO: 840mV

– The only setting that was changed between tests was PPT. Although I did have to increase TDC and EDC twice throughout the testing.
– I kept TDC/EDC at default (60/90) until it it started to get close to the limits at around 80W PPT. At that point I moved TDC/EDC to 80/120 to avoid being limited.
– I approached the limit again around 95W and moved TDC/EDC up to 85/130.

With this data and a bit more tuning I was finally able to get my 5700X to perform better than the 5700GE, that I originally wanted but couldn’t find. I also get the benefit of having PCIE 4.0 and twice the L3 cache of the 5700GE, while being able to hit 3.2GHz multi-core and 4.85GHz single-core. I think that’s pretty good for only 47W.

For anyone interested, my final Cinebench R23 multi-core score at 47W is 10,850 and I tested with Passmark to have a direct comparison to the 5700GE and I got a score of 23,775 versus the 22,196 of the 5700GE. I know these are impressive numbers to 99.9% of people here but I am super happy that all of my work has finally paid off.
