I should probably start off by letting you know I’m very green to this and just going off some research I did prior to running these test and posting here. Years ago I use to try overclocking but let’s just assume I’m green to that too. I just recently upgraded my cpu/mobo/ram to give my 4090 all I could for gaming. The 14900 is almost unacceptable in the heat I was seeing from Cinebench R23 on stock setting in my mobo. Hitting TJ Max very quickly.
Specs, 14900K, MSI Carbon mobo, RAM is running XMP at 6400MHz w/ a EK Nycleus AIO CR360. Only other settings I’ve adjusted in bios are mentioned below.
During my research I saw post about using different types of undervolting options on this board and even read a MSI blog about it but did not feel that was helping me or I had some setting wrong maybe…at the time I was running the setting for “CPU Cooler Tuning” as “Water cooler” but read post stating that ran too hot.
The best results I’ve had so far I will post below. The settings I used are “Offset Mode” “- by PWM” and at 0.100. If I go to 0.105 I got a bsod, which makes me wonder if I should even be running at 0.100 but I did run two test without fail. I’m using the “Air cooler” setting with the results below.
I would love any feedback you can give, what you think might help get my temps down even more if possible. Here is the two best results I had:
