Sudden CPU temp spike
Hello, I just put together a PC with a mix of new and old parts. I have a de-lidded i7-6700k and a cheap 240mm AIO. I have liquid metal between the CPU die and IHS, as well as between the IHS and the AIO.
I’m noticing when the CPU is idle, and I start a stress test the CPU temp will instantly go from 23c to 45c or so. While I realize these temps are extremely good I’m not sure what to think about the instant temp jump. I let the stress run for about 20 minutes and then stopped it. Temps got to about 48c max, then dropped back to 24c within 60 seconds of the test stopping.
Does this seem normal? I don’t want to proceed with overclocking until I’m sure things are ready for it.
Thank you!
