The setting I had in mind for these ships was the planets and lunar system of alien super gas giant. Some of the moons around it are inhabited and travel more or less takes place around those planetary bodies. The system has had space travel for a while but for reasons hasn’t ventured out far into the solar system so its had time to develop different models of spaceships for individual capable of both space and atmospheric flight. Escape velocity is a different matter.
