I know I’ve heard this before on a YouTube video and I just had a friend say this a little bit ago. Their complaint about origins was: “why are there only trenches on one side? Shouldn’t it be trenches on both sides fighting each other? It seemed like common knowledge to me but I guess not for everyone. German trenches in WWI were pretty extensive with some of the trenches extending way further back than the front lines (pictured here, the red is the German side extending miles behind the main front) I always imagined that the opposite wall of where the Maxis Drone brain was in the starting room was facing the front lines but not on the front lines. There’s a few points on the map where there’s debris blocking the trench and that would lead to the rest of the trenches. Also in WWI the plane was just invented so usually plane dog fights would be very disconnected from the battles. They barely had ‘Bombers’ and could only carry the people piloting them so paratroopers weren’t common. so the center of a dog fight straying away from right above no man’s land is also pretty normal.
