
Sorry about the rant, but back in May, I picked up the $600 Micro Center bundle featuring the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, the MSI Z890 Tomahawk, and 32GB of Crucial Pro 6400MHz CL32 (Micron H-die).
Personal matters delayed my system tuning until now, but I finally had time to push it. It feels like everyone is being misled by reviews—such as those on TechPowerUp Crucial Pro OC DDR5-6400 32 GB CL32 Review – Intel Core Ultra 285K Frametimes: Baldur's Gate 3 | TechPowerUp
and Tom's HardwareCrucial Pro Overclocking DDR5-6400 C32 2x16GB Review: Performance Through Optimization | Tom's Hardware—that claim this kit has a 'low overclock ceiling' or tell users to 'only buy Hynix A or M-die.' However, a review on APH Networks caught my attention because the reviewer actually managed to push this memory to ~7800 MT/s, though they didn't include detailed subtimings or performance benchmarks.

After watching content from creators like Blackbird PC, I decided to run my own tests. I've been memory overclocking since Ivy Bridge and heavily tuned my Zen 3 setup, so I'm no stranger to subtiming optimization. How can reviewers claim this kit has a limited overclock ceiling when, on a stock 270K Plus, it easily passes 3 hours of TestMem5 (anta777extreme) and achieves ~74ns latency in AIDA64 with 121.35 GB/s bandwidth? As a gesture of myself to this channel I'm sharing the timings. In my screenshot I did test one hour tm05 anta777extreme but I tested 3hours before so I know for a fact that it will pass whaever cycles I ask as it stabilizes the temperature at 53/56C respectifully from my screenshots.
This is all with stock fabric speeds! I really respect creators like Buildzoid, and I've even suggested on his channel that he give this Crucial Pro 6400 CL32 kit a shot.
I rarely see anyone showing serious interest in testing it, but it seems it performs remarkably close to the highly acclaimed Hynix A/M-die kits. NOTE: My Ring, NGU, and D2D are still completely stock (NGU x26, D2D x30, Ring hitting 40x stock)—I haven't even enabled the 200S Boost features yet.
I would love to connect with engineers from Crucial or Intel to better understand these Micron timings, and I'd like to encourage other owners of this kit to test and share their results so we can optimize subtimings together.
Honestly, it makes me wonder if reviewers are rushing their testing and jumping to conclusions too quickly. I'm not accusing anyone of bias, but seeing results like this makes the 'poor overclocker' narrative sound completely unfounded.
