You're probably wondering what the big Theory I have is… And it is completely a random thought, it doesn't make sense in a way- and probably is just me being crazy but here it is.
Don't take this seriously or that I'm actually thinking this- Its more a gag- but it is an interetsing idea lol
Keep the conversation btw peaceful and respectful, and honest. I do not believe any of what I say is true or actually facts, it is mere just out of fun, but also curiousity-
SO. The theory is:
In the Reboot story of MW, Soap MacTavish… Was a Ultranationalist, fighting alongside or for Makarov, and was possibly, a Konni Operative/Inner Circle Operative before eventually betraying Makarov.
Now I know what you are thinking. HEAR ME OUT.
I will go through reasons why- and again this is not me saying its true, this theory is a mere joke rather a actual theory, but feel free to interpret as it is…
Summary if you don't wanna read the whole thing:
- Soap has a weird connection with Makarov, hinting to before, during and the final moment of MWIII and before MW2019
- Soap's knowledge of the Konni group and even the Pre-order skin for MWIII where you have a skin for soap-
- Konni group's organisational set-up for Multinational contractors.
- More of a deep dive/review of Makarov and Soap's association.
Backstory/Lore before MW2019 vvv (Scroll a bit more for the main theory)
So. lets go back to his lore. Similar to the original MW series, Soap was trying to join the SAS ever since he was 16, sometimes lying about his age and details to get into the Military. but after becoming 18 he was successful, being put into Price's squad, and repeating the "Crew Expandable" Mission.
then after that, we have have: "Soap later received a Gallantry Medal, the Victoria Cross, and the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross after an operation in Urzikstan during which his patrol was attacked by Al-Qatala. After the heavy machine gun malfunctioned, Soap stripped the weapon and reassembled it before firing 150 single shots, re-cocking the gun for every round. Soap claimed however that "any and all of his comrades would have done the same thing".\2])
In 2016, Soap almost faced disciplinary action for punching a Military Police officer, knocking him out and locking him in his own vehicle. No charge were filed to avoid embarrassment for the officer.\2])" –

Now. Into the "Theory"
- MWIII – Verdansk Stadium – Flashpoint
In April 6th 2019, Soap McTavish was now under the command of General Shepherd and Capt Price. He was a sergeant in the 22nd SAS, before TF141 was formed. And with that, he was tasked to help find and capture, Vladimir Makarov. After fighting his way through the Inner Circle, through Verdansk Stadium, we eventually capture Makarov trying to escape in a Ambulance, After capturing him, and exfil with Makarov, we're met in the Helicopter where they Interrogate Vladimir Makarov-
As they do, we know that Makarov had done his homework on each and every person in the very Helicopter with him. not like TF141 and Shepherd did. Makarov knew who they were, what their role was, and maybe even Backstory. But he had such a very weird association with Soap MacTavish-
Now I could be crazy by thinking that Makarov actually knew Soap MacTavish- But why did Makarov target Soap specifically by saying: "I'll be seeing you again, MacTavish-"
THEN. When Makarov does have Price at gunpoint, about to kill him, Soap does the most stupidest way to saving his Capt, he stabs Makarov in the shoulder, rather in the head or neck, having him off guard-
Letting Makarov Kill him- Again, could be Sledgehammers shitty writing, but why does Soap, the guy who loves killing enemies and does it so easily, manage to fail killing Makarov?
I do want to get into this more, but I do wanna get to my other points.
- MWII and MWIII – Soap's Character-
Now, if we look at Soap during the MWIII campaign, we can see how different he behaves around TF141 regarding Makarov.
Soap seems to know about the Konni Group during the brief- It could be they were informed of the Konni Group just before or something- But this sentence: "Konni's got their own Missiles, what does Makarov want these for?"
We do understand that the missiles they stole were American missiles, to frame the west and Farah. But Soap knowing Makarov having the money and resources to even launch their own missiles, really does question if Soap knows what Makarov was or is capable of…
Now we can also look into the very Pre-order skin for MWIII where we have "Masked" and "Unmasked" Soap.
And realise how the very outfit that Soap wears as the pre-order outfit? That is the exact uniform of the Konni Ultranationalists during MWIII specifically, the Operation 627 outfit- We see Ivan Alexxeve and Andrei Nolan wear this outfit when breaking out Makarov.
It could be that sledgehammer was just doing it for marketing purposes or even for MWIII theme, as they did it for fun-
But why was Soap used for this outfit? when the very outfit is used for the Konni Group?? Outside the many other operatives- Why Soap?
That is one of my main reasons why Soap could be a ex-member of the Konni group/Inner Circle.
- The Konni Group's foundation.
NOW. We can understand that Makarov, Nolan and Ivan were part of the Inner Circle. and this was later formed into the Konni Group the PMC.
Now. here is the important detail of the Konni Group. It is technically NOT a Russian PMC, it is actually Multinational PMC. If we look into the Multiplayer- we can see that we have MANY operatives from different countries-
- Cuba (Rainmaker Operative)
- Armenia (Sona "Keres" Mirzoyan)
- South Korea (Ari "Dokkaebi" Jo)
- Russia ofc (Makarov, Nolan, Ivan, Rook, Milena, Warden, etc)
- Australia. (Andrei Nolan is from Australian Origin with Russian Heritage.
- British (Bullfrog, a mini Boss in warzone)
- America (Bombmaker Shadow company turned Konni)
- Somalia (Bashiir "Hush" Shirwa)
- Ireland (Orla "Banshee" Murphy)
Basically, we know there are more operatives in this PMC. that are from different countries, including the Western nationalities, Specifically the UK and US.
That does give the possibility that Soap a Scotsman, could be eligible to join the Konni Group. And that when he was MIA or not seen for 3-5 years or less, he could have maybe met Makarov- Maybe Soap had the same political view of ultranationalism. Scotland being under the foot of Great Britain as the inferior country.
- Back to Makarov and Soaps association/rivalry.
I'd like to reference this as Yuri and Makarov from the OG MW3 2011 story.
Where ever since MW1 2007, Yuri had been partners with Makarov, working with and saving Zahkaev, helping detonate the Nuke, trying to stop Makarov causing No Russian, now helping Price and Nikolai including soap, kill Makarov.
Now with Yuri- who only appeared once, its the same situation as well- but Yuri seems to no joint forces with Price.
But Soap's situation on the matter is… questioning. See again as I mentioned, Makarov weirdly targeted Soap for killing. And he had a weird fascination about it.
What if Makarov and Soap were partners, but Soap betrayed Makarov, leaving to join Price? But then why wouldn't Makarov tell Price about it or mention it?
it would make no sense like that- but maybe that's why Makarov targeted Soap, killing him. again, could be just Makarov getting to Price- But at the same time, a lot of things that correlate between Soap and Makarov more deeper than Price and Soap-.
ANYWAY, lemme know what you guys think of this stupid yet interesting Theory. I will admit, I do think I'm crazy, but at the same time- I'm curious what the direction was here.
