Introduction

With the release of Black Ops II ports on PS5, I thought I’d put together an in depth guide covering the two enemies players will encounter on the launch map: Tranzit.

The mechanics about them is very well know so I will try to break down a little further. Like their health systems, spawning behaviour and attack mechanics a little more in depth.

Denizens

Health = 200

Max 2 can be alive at once.

Will not spawn during round intermissions.

Does not give points or power-ups.

Behaviour

Denizens begin spawning when at least one player enters one of the foggy areas between the main regions of the map.

Denizen will emerge from the ground and a sound cue will play to alert the player. Shortly afterwards, the Denizen will target a player currently inside the fog. Once it has selected a target, the Denizen will make a run for it, sprinting at high speed. When it gets within range, it will leap toward the player's head while emitting a distinctive screech.

The player has a short opportunity to react before the Denizen attaches itself. By turning around and shooting the Denizen will it tries to reaches them..

Denizens can also be killed with a melee attack if the player is quick enough. This can be particularly effective with weapons such as the Bowie Knife or Galvaknuckles, since the normal knife is not strong enough to kill it in one hit.

When a Denizen Attaches

If the Denizen successfully reaches the player, it will attach itself to their head.

At this point:

  • The player's weapon is put away.
  • Player movement speed is reduced to 50% of base movement speed.
  • A unique minigame begins between the player and the Denizen.

The minigame is essentially a race between two point totals: the player must reach its kill threshold before Denizens reaches theirs.

While attached, the Denizen will periodically scratch the player.

Every 1.0–1.5 seconds, the Denizen performs a scratch, awarding itself +5 points.

If the Denizen reaches 15 points, the player is killed.

Juggernog does not affect the score.

The player must rapidly melee the Denizen to accumulate points of their own. The number of points awarded per melee depends on the melee weapon currently being held.

  • Knife: +6 points
  • Bowie knife: +10 points
  • Galvaknuckles: +15 points

If the player reaches 30 points, the Denizen is killed.

The Denizen will be killed off, the minigame ends, and the player's movement speed and weapon state return to normal.

Avogadro

The Avogadro is the second unique enemy encountered on Tranzit. Unlike other enemies, Avogadro is tied to the map's power system and can interact with the bus.

Spawn

Avogadro technically exists from the beginning of a match, but he is initially locked inside a container in the Power Station.

Once the power is turned on, Avogadro is released.

Turning the power back off afterward does not affect Avogadro. Once released, he remains active and follows his normal spawning behaviour.

After being released, Avogadro will appear as a dark thundercloud above one of the following regions:

  • Bus depot
  • Diner
  • Farm
  • Cornfield
  • Power station
  • Town

The thundercloud will move to a different region every 30 seconds.

When Avogadro is ready to spawn, the game waits an additional 30 seconds before he appears in the region underneath the cloud.

He first materialises as a ball of lightning, before transforming into his humanoid form.

Avogadro will spawn in the region regardless if there are players there or not.

  • Player present: Avogadro will engage that player.
  • No player present: Avogadro returns to the thundercloud and will wait for the next round to spawn.

If Avogadro is killed, he will respawn after 2–4 rounds.

Attacks

Avogadro has one attack and that is to fire a lightning bolt at a player.

Damage = 90

The player must be a certain distance away from him to fire. Should the player maintain close proximity then he cannot use this attack.

Interactions with Tedd

Avogadro can interact with the bus when players attempt to escape him.

If a player boards the bus while it is moving, Avogadro will sprint after the bus to catch up.

Once he gets close enough, he will teleport to a nearby window on the bus.

While Avogadro is attached to one of the bus windows, he will electrocute the bus every 2 seconds.

If he remains on the bus for 20 seconds, the bus will be disabled.

This disables the bus for 30 seconds.

Health

Avogadro is immune to:

  • Lava
  • Nuke power-up
  • Traps
  • zombie limit

Avogadro does not have a conventional health value.

Instead, the game tracks how many times he has been hit by melee attacks.

Each successful melee attack counts as 1 melee hit toward Avogadro's death threshold.

The Galvaknuckles are an exception, counting as 2 hits.

Avogadro is killed after accumulating 4 melee hits.

An EMP grenade counts as 4 melee hits toward his internal hit counter.

Therefore, hitting Avogadro with an EMP grenade will kill him instantly.

For every 1000 points of bullet damage, the game subtracts 1 melee hit from the required hit count.

So shooting him effectively heals him.

Extra

The picture of Avogadro is from CODMobile. He works much differently there and I consider him the most annoying enemy. He is the special enemy with least health, yet if I die. Its to Avogadro.

CODMobile can spawn atleast 2 of him as early has round 4, then quickly start spamming him on later rounds. He will constantly teleport and fire slow moving electric balls at you. If you think BO6/7 has a special enemy spam problem, you seen nothing yet.

Other in depths for BO2:

In the making, TBA.
