ASUS has announced a new motherboard that’s intended to be quite affordable. The company has unveiled the TUF Gaming B850M WiFi, a model that does not support PCIe 5.0 for the graphics card. This omission should have a limited impact on graphics performance, while support for high-speed storage will work seamlessly!

A micro-ATX model!
With this motherboard, ASUS offers a model in the micro-ATX form factor. It features a B850chipset and an AM5socket. The board has four DDR5 memory slots, all supporting RAM clocked up to 7600 MT/s. Of course, this will depend on the processor, the RAM itself, and the version of the BIOS installed.
The rest of the connectivity features include a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for the graphics card. This is paired with a simplified graphics card removal system. This goes to show that opting for a recent AMD chipset doesn’t guarantee PCIe 5.0 support for the GPU. However, the impact on graphics card performance should be minimal… That is, as long as you don’t choose an RTX 5060 (Ti) 8 GB.
For storage, we have fourSATA III ports paired with three M.2 slots. Of these, only the first supports PCIe 5.0 x16; the other two operate a tPCIe 4.0.
Rear I/O:
Finally, the rear I/O panel offers three video outputs: two DisplayPorts and one HDMI. There are two USB 5 Gbps ports, four USB-A 2.0 ports, and two USB 10 Gbps ports, one of which is Type-C. APS/2 connector for keyboard and mouse is included, along with a Flashback button. As for networking, the laptop includes Wi-Fi and 2.5 GbE Ethernet. As with the audio, the specific chips used have yet to be specified.
Price unknown:
For now, the retail price remains unknown, but we expect it to be lower than the €200–230 asked for the Plus Wi-Fi version of the card, which features PCIe 5.0 for the graphics card.
