Taco and Margarita Festival
Tacos and margaritas take center stage at the Syracuse Inner Harbor during the Taco and Margarita Festival, running through Saturday. The event features local vendors serving traditional favorites and new creations, along with live music and a fireworks show. Admission is $5, and the festival raises money for the La Casita Cultural Center, benefiting Hispanic communities across Central New York.
CNY Scottish Games & Celtic Festival
Liverpool will “transform into the Highlands” during the 83rd annual CNY Scottish Games & Celtic Festival on Saturday. From 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Long Branch Park will host competitions in drumming, pipe bands, Highland dancing and heavy athletics. Organizers also promise children’s games, Celtic musical entertainment, Celtic-themed vendors, clans, food and drink. Tickets cost around $20 for adults.
Towpath Day
Camillus Erie Canal Park will host Towpath Day on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., an annual community celebration of the Erie Canal. The event includes music, food, boat rides, kids’ crafts, face painting, games, vendors, raffles and historical presentations. This year’s theme is the 250th anniversary of American independence. Admission is free.
Fillmore Days
Fillmore Days returns to Fillmore Glen State Park in Moravia on Saturday with events including bathtub races, a rubber duckie scavenger hunt, a pie-eating contest, cupcake checkers, pedal car and bicycle derbies, and more. The day also includes live music, food and beverages, and craft vendors. Gates open at 10 a.m., and admission is free.
For Your Health 5k and Wellness Fair
The Oswego Health Foundation will host the 11th annual “For Your Health” 5K and Wellness Fair tomorrow. Participants can compete in the 5K, join friendly contests and visit a wellness fair with interactive exhibits, local vendors and health resources, while raising money to support patient care in Central New York. Same-day registration is available.
Brockway National Truck Show
The 26th annual Brockway National Truck Show continues through Saturday across Homer and Cortland, celebrating the legacy of Brockway trucks. The event includes a parade of historic Brockway trucks, Main Street displays, vendors, food, live entertainment, fireworks, auctions and family-friendly activities. It is hosted by the CNY Living History Museum.
Shakespeare-in-the-Park presents “The Taming of the Shrew”
Shakespeare-in-the-Park brings “The Taming of the Shrew” to the Thornden Park Amphitheater, with free admission, though donations are accepted and paid premium seats are available. Performances over the next two weeks are Fridays and Saturday at 5:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m.
C.A.R.E Day
ConnextCare will hold its inaugural C.A.R.E. Day on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its Pulaski location. The free community event will bring together more than 30 healthcare providers, community organizations, nonprofits, local businesses and elected officials to connect residents with health, wellness and community resources. The event will also include free health screenings, insurance navigation assistance, family activities, food vendors and giveaways.
Locals Only Festival
Music fans can head to Papermill Island in Baldwinsville on Saturday for the Locals Only Fest, featuring bands and performers from the Central New York music scene. The event also includes local artists, vendors and food trucks. Gates open at noon, and admission is $20.
Jon Diaz Community Center Fundraiser
A McDonald’s fundraiser is also planned this weekend to support development of the Jon Diaz Community Center. On Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m., the South Salina Street location will donate 15% of sales to the project. NFL running back Latavius Murray is expected to be at the McDonald’s tomorrow signing jerseys, and the event will include free activities for families. Murray’s vision for the center is to create a place where families can access educational, recreational and workforce development opportunities.
