Some of Commander’s more interesting designs involve cards that get stronger over the course of the game. Whether they offer a scaling payoff when leaving the command zone, or just come back with bigger stats, the looming threat that these Commanders offer is truly unique. Me, the Immortal is one of the few examples of this, equipped to thrive in Commander’s slower style of game.
MTG Me, the Immortal

Me, the Immortal is an incredibly unique Commander, capable of growing stronger between zones to create a massive Voltron threat. This allows cards like Scavenged Brawler to turn Me into a massive, persistent threat, while Slippery Bogbinder can give her permanent Hexproof. From there, cards like Super-Adaptoid can become instant threats by copying all of Me’s keywords.
With such a massive focus on counters, typical +1/+1 counter payoffs like Hardened Scales, Forgotten Ancient, and Vorel of the Hull Clade can create permanent value in Me decks. Better yet The Ozolith goes above and beyond here, effectively copying any counters on Me every time she dies.
Once Me becomes a massive threat, she’s bound to get removed repeatedly, making her last ability useful. In an effort to dodge command tax in the late game, adding a few cards like Squee, Goblin Nabob can help reduce the strain of Me’s discard cost. While less effective, draw engines like The One Ring or Greater Good can essentially do the same thing, giving you lots of cards to discard.
Going Infinite With Croak Counters

If all this weren’t enough, Me, the Immortal’s unique counter-carrying ability even creates an infinite combo. After acquiring a Croak counter by milling over Me with something like Noxious Revival, you can create infinite mana with Food Chain and Grolnok, the Omnivore.
To start, with a Croak counter on Me, exile her to Food Chain, creating six mana. Use five of that to cast your Commander, putting her back into play. Since Me will keep the Croak counter on her, you can exile her to Food Chain again to repeat this loop infinitely. From here, winning the game with any number of cards, like Impact Tremors or Walking Ballista, is trivial.
On top of being sufficiently powerful, Me, the Immortal offers an incredibly unique play space that’s otherwise difficult to find in MTG. With her seeing very little play in the 99, and only hosting 2,811 Commander decks herself according to EDHREC, this is a great option for those who want to bring something different to their Commander tables.
If that weren’t enough, Me, the Immortal is surprisingly cheap to pick up, as well. Available for just $0.50, this can become an extremely powerful budget deck with the right cards. With all this in mind, there’s nothing stopping you from giving this Commander a try.
