Korea will welcome the best student-athletes of the world to compete in 18 different sports from 1-12 August. Get ready, the countdown has started!
More than 500 people attended ‘The Great Challenge of Megacity Chungcheong! Chungcheong 2027 D-365 Countdown’ at the Daejeon Dream Arena esports, a ceremony marking one year before the Games begin.

Related organisations, the mayors, governors, council chairs and sports council presidents of the four host cities and provinces (Daejeon, Sejong, Chungbuk and Chungnam); sponsors; prospective “Lumi” volunteers, citizens, and the media joined together, united in their commitment to ensure the successful hosting of the 2027 Universiade.
Local band 58D kicked off the festivities before the prospective volunteers’ oath. Unistar OH Min-hyeok of the national taekwondo poomsae team presented his best encouragements for a successful event to com, followed by a poomsae demonstration by Kyung Hee University ended the festivities.
As centrepiece of the event, dignitaries kicked off the D-365 countdown as lasers, LED displays and fireworks converged for a declaration of intent to deliver the Games in style.
Everyone joined in a great festive spirit, looking forward to world coming to the Chungcheong Megacity next summer.
Beyond the stage, visitors could catch an early glimpse of what awaits: promotional booths dedicated to the Chungcheong 2027 FISU World Conference, presented jointly by the Organising Committee and its newly appointed host, Dankook University, alongside a showcase of official merchandise.

The Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games will be hosted by Korea in the Chungcheong Megacity, formed by the cities of Daejeon, Sejong, Chungbuk and Chungnam.
Daejeon Metropolitan City pursues creativity, pioneering spirit, and harmony with the vision of becoming a first-rate economic city.
It will be the home of the diving, fencing and swimming competitions
Sejong Special Self-Governing City, inaugurated officially on July 1, 2012, is the 17th metropolitan autonomous entity in the country, established to overcome the overpopulation in the capital region and promote balanced national development.
It will be the home of the judo and table tennis competitions.
Chungcheongbuk-do is the only landlocked province in Korea, adjacent to the capital, Seoul, providing convenient transportation. The province is developed in economy, education, and culture.
It will be the home of the archery, artistic gymnastics, athletics, badminton, basketball, rhythmic gymnastics, rowing, taekwondo and para taekwondo competitions.
Chungcheongnam-do, located in the central part of Korea, boasts convenient transportation and a developed foundation in history, culture, and industry.
It will be the home of the beach volleyball, golf, tennis, volleyball and water polo competitions.
18 sports and one para-sport
Almost 250 medals will be awarded during the 12 days of competitions in the 18 different disciplines – or 19 if you count para taekwondo. Can you guess which sports Heung-yi and Na-you are showcasing?
