Final Fantasy VII saw the first part of its three-piece remake series release back in 2020. That was followed by Rebirth in 2024, and then things will wrap with Revelation in 2027. That’s 7 years of waiting for fans, and longer in terms of work for the team at Square Enix. This remake was clearly a massive undertaking for the studio, which makes tackling yet another Final Fantasy remake that much more challenging.
Yoshi-P, the director and producer of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and its expansions, recently spoke at an event concerning the Final Fantasy VII remake series. In particular, Yoshi-P brought up fan requests for games like Final Fantasy VI, VII and IX to be remade. While Yoshi-P recognizes and appreciates the fan interest, he says that tackling such projects could end up being even more work and taking considerably longer than Final Fantasy VII’s remake trilogy has.
