Hey everyone,
I recently had a massive wave of nostalgia and finally remembered a game that I completely wiped from my memory for over two decades: San Francisco Rush 2049.
The way it came back to me is wild. Someone asked me the classic question: "Where were you and what did you do on 9/11?"
It was my very first day at a new secondary school (Realschule). After school, I went straight to a local electronics store that had demo booths where you could play video games. I ended up staying there the entire afternoon, completely hooked on this racing game where you could deploy wings to glide through the air and find crazy shortcuts. I lost all track of time.
When I finally walked through the front door at home that evening, my parents were completely losing their minds and glued to the TV. That was the moment I found out what had happened in New York. Because of the sheer chaos of that day, the memory of the game itself just faded away into the background for years, until that question brought it all back.
It made me wonder: What is that one game for you? A game you were obsessed with, completely forgot existed, and what was the trigger or memory that finally brought it back into your head years later?
