Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help me troubleshoot my ASUS RTX 2080.
I opened the card to replace the thermal paste because it was running hot. The heatsink was extremely difficult to remove since the old thermal paste had basically hardened and felt glued to the GPU. After cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol and applying new thermal paste, the card no longer works.
Here's everything I've tried:
ASUS RTX 2080
Fans spin briefly on startup and the LEDs light up.
PCIe power cables are fully connected.
GPU is fully seated and the PCIe latch is locked.
Cleared CMOS.
PC boots normally using Intel integrated graphics.
The RTX 2080 is not detected in Device Manager (not even as "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter").
Tested the GPU in a second PC with the exact same result: no display and not detected.
Removed the cooler again to inspect everything.
All internal connectors are plugged in.
No missing or obviously damaged SMD components.
No shifted thermal pads.
No excess thermal paste around the GPU die.
The PCIe gold fingers look clean.
At this point, I'm worried I may have damaged something while separating the heatsink since it was stuck very tightly to the GPU.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
