This is my current setup

3 monitors (1x 1440p 300hz and 2x 1080p 75hz)

Wireless keyboard/mouse

Usb webcam

Desktop PC

Work mac m4 pro laptop

(Linux laptop)

so i have setup some brackets to hold primarily my work laptop in clamshell mode under my desk

I have a kvm that has my 2 side monitors and my webcam so i can easily switch those and my main monitor has a second hdmi cable (could switch to hdmi – usb c if needed) that i can plug into my mac

I would like to only need to plug in 1 or 2 cables in either of my laptop to have the webcam and 3 monitors working

Since im in clamshell mode, i need power and for a mac, i need like thunderbolt 4 to support 2 extended displays (i know some docks support it without thunderbolt 4 but with a driver, but this would be my last option as I dont really want to install a third party software on my work laptop)

I have seen the prices for such docks (~200 cad), but my concern is if I pay this price, I'd like it to also work with my linux/windows laptop properly, over MST if i recall correctly)

So in order of preference, monitors must always be extended, no mirror

– dock for 1 thunder bolt supporting my three (or 2 if main is on other same side usb c) monitors and a usb a and mag safe charger for clamshell and support for linux/windows laptop with same prerequisite

– dock only support mac in clamshell mode with three monitors (or 2 with main on other same side usb-c) and power delivery

– third party software needed adapter/dock to support both linux/windows and mac

Do you guys have a similar setup, recommendations, really trying to find the perfect solution for my multi device setup while keeping interacts minimal and monitor display rate

I could be lacking some details and/or be wrong about some stuff, feel free to correct or ask me questions!

Thank you
