Progress also carries over to both versions as I saw my PS5 account level when I opened the PS4 version too.
Update: I just thought that BO2 might be different. I have not tried BO2 yet but I can confirm BO1 works.
BO2 progress carries over between PS4 and PS5 versions of the game.
