Can’t play Black Ops Cold War because it forces me to change my Activision display name, but every name gets rejected

Hi everyone,

I'm completely locked out of Black Ops Cold War because the game forces me to change my Activision display name before I can continue.

The problem is that no matter what name I enter, it never works. I've tried:

  • My usual name
  • Random names
  • Longer names
  • Names with numbers
  • Completely different names

Nothing gets accepted, and I can't press Confirm to continue. I'm basically stuck on this screen and can't play the game at all.

I've already tried restarting the game, but it keeps sending me back to the same screen.

Has anyone else experienced this?
