These are my takes on the newest Persona 5 collab characters, the main selling point of this season.
So… Let's begin with…
1 – DESIGN: The characters and their design are great, except for Queen. While the rest look polished and straight out of their game, Queen looks like something straight out of a Battle Pass.
2 – DUB: Why would you have the original voice actors and don't use their voice? These four characters only have spawn lines in the matches, default lines in the lobby and as soon as you're playing, they switch to the english dub, since all of them are cosplays. Having them switching back and forth between Japanese and English sounds weird and confusing.
(Keep in mind Elizabeth Liones and Meliodas had the original anime actors voicing them, same as Alexa Bliss and the entire cast of Ghost In The Shell back in 2022. And they were all EPIC).
3 – LEGENDARY RESOURCES: For some backwards god-forsaken reason, we've been gambling on which resources the collab characters are gonna have.
– Gundam characters had Japanese dub, BR stance, BR loot crate, executions…but no kill counter.
– Street Fighter characters had execution, BR crate, color palette, BR stance…but no voice lines or kill counter.
– Persona characters have kill counter! But no BR stance, no BR execution, no BR loot crate, no Japanese dub…
Alexa Bliss skin had execution (and it was voiced by the fighter herself). And she was EPIC.
QUICK NOTES:
– The no mask option is bugged.
– The characters can BLINK during the selection, but as soon as you equip them, with or without mask, they no longer can.
– Queen's motorcycle Persona is loud as hell.
– Type 63 – Johanna's sight gets bugged If you stop the inspection.
– The draw trolling continues: people get the odds higher for a character and receive another. Same for Guns Armory.
– The Heat Points event not having an option to kick out inactive players is outrageous. Because many people are sneaking into these teams to earn free things on top of everyone else's efforts.
So, in the end, it's a collab with a lot of unexplored potential. The characters could've been a lot greater than they are.
A few more resources could've turned these into one of the best collabs to date. Unfortunately, that isn't the case.
Still, it will sell out well.
Because people can't help themselves, can they?
