This minor augments gives you a portion of ammo per melee kill. It is not much on normal weapons, but on this one each kill gives almost 50 bullets and takes no time to recover all the ammo as you can see in this clip.
Once I discovered this set up, the weapon has become one of the most fun ones for me.
