I feel like the idea of the field upgrade is pretty cool and has a bit of that care package risk faktor but unfortunately it's current ingame implementation and use case is pretty much bar none useles.
here's how I would rework the weapon drop field upgrade:
I'm going to take the faktor that MW19 was a game that also featured stopping power rounds as a field upgrade and incorporate it into the weapon drop field upgrade.
First of all I would change the recharge time to be somewhere in between it's current timer and stopping power's charge time so it's on the slower end. Why?
Because I would personally completely change what this field upgrade actually does. Now when you call in a weapon drop (still the same way with signaling with a smoke grenade) the drone comes and drops off the weapon as per usual, the only difference being instead of it's current mechanic where it either adds an attachment to your loadout gun or gives you a randomized gun with 5> attachments. It now gives you a weapon with permenant stopping power rounds meaning it's not just the initial mag size that has boosted damage, it's your entire ammo count including reserve.
The way I would balance this new mechanic is by keeping the randomness of the current weapon drop field upgrade. The actual weapon you recieve is still completely random with 1 – 5 random attachments, that way the randomness balances out the guaranteed stopping power rounds. This way you could either recieve a completely busted weapon and become unstoppable or receive a next to unusable combination of attachments on a more subpar weapon (Aswell as everything in between)
This rework would also add more risk to the field upgrade as now the enemy has an actual incentive to try and steal it from you just like most people do with care packages
One last balancing act I would add is making it so the weapon does not drop on death, unlike something like the juggernauts minigun where it can be picked up after the jugg dies. This makes it so that the inherent BS of MW19 and CoD in general helps balance out the sheer firepower this field upgrade would award you with. Speaking off, this rework was also inspired to fit the actual current description of this field upgrade. When I heard "drone that drops high power weapons" I thought of something like this.
